The Boston Red Sox team 2017 spring training begins in February. The MLB Spring Training season will see the Boston Red Sox reporting to spring training about a week earlier than last year.
Red Sox Truck Day is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 6. The day the famous equipment truck departs Fenway Park, better known as “Truck Day” in Boston.
Pitchers and catchers report to JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida on February 14th with the first full-squad workout taking place on February 17th. As always, workouts are free and open to the public.
As the Boston Red Sox did last season, the club will hold an open house for fans at JetBlue Park at Fenway South on Saturday, February 18, 2017.
Adjustments have been made to Boston Red Sox Spring training schedule because of the World Baseball Classic, the event will take place throughout February and March. The Boston Red Sox will play a World Baseball Classic exhibition game against Team USA on March 9, 2017.
The first exhibition game will take place at JetBlue Park on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 1:05PM versus the Northeastern Huskies. Previous seasons have seen the Boston Red Sox play a college doubleheader against Northeastern and Boston College. However, the Boston College Eagles are not on the 2017 Boston Red Sox Spring Training schedule.
The Boston Red Sox official Grapefruit League schedule begins Friday, February 23, 2017 at home against the New York Mets. Their final home game at JetBlue Park takes place against the Washington Nationals Thursday, March 30, 2017.
In total, the Red Sox will play 19 home MLB Spring Training games at JetBlue Park.
The Boston Red Sox kickoff their 2017 regular season schedule April 3rd, 2017 at home versus the Pittsburgh Pirates.
