The School District of Lee County is considering putting a new high school in Gateway in time for the 2018-19 school year. Members of the community have come together to build support for the proposed Gateway High School. Gateway just has the 48 acres required for a High School in Lee County at a Lee County District School Board owned site on the corner of Griffin Drive and SR82. The growth projections for the Gateway and Treeline corridor show the population to support the Gateway High School. However, the School District of Lee County Advisory Committee is concerned about the expansion plans for the SR82 roadway and how traffic from the Gateway High School will be handled on such a busy roadway. The other potential site is an Alva High School, which gives them plenty of room for the school but the concern is lack of utilities and growth projections for the area.

Residents of Gateway and surrounding areas are asking for your support. Here are four ways you can help:

1. Visit the Gateway High School Support Group at facebook.com/groups/718393188323114/ to join the group and find out additional details.

2. On March 1st at 3PM the Lee County School District’s Construction Advisory Committee will be making a site inspection at the potential Gateway site on Griffin Drive. The intention is to have 50+ people there to greet them and all wearing t-shirts in support of the Gateway high school. Please show your support by attending!
