Comcast Cable will close its residential call center in Sarasota, laying off 129 workers, but will open a new regional dispatch center that will employ 93. The company is combining the Sarasota call center into a similar operation in Fort Myers, spokesman Bill Ferry said Tuesday. The Fort Myers Regional Partnership, Lee County’s Economic Development Office, announced today that the county has approved financial incentives totaling $5 million for VR Laboratories, LLC to support its new venture.   Currently, VR Laboratories is eyeing the Madden Research Loop for it’s 155,000 sq ft headquarters.
